San Francisco
It was a whirlwind from when I landed until when I took back off. On Thursday, I walked the whole of the Golden Gate bridge. I viewed sunset across the city and the bay and explored some of the forests on the far side of the channel (seen in the rear of the image on the right).
After photographing the sunset and meeting back up with my friend we got an early rest in. The following day was spent exploring the Presidio (a place I’d become familiar with over the following days).
On Saturday we would drive the coast along Route 1 Southbound – stopping at places such as Mori Point, and Pigeon Point Lighthouse before making our way back into the city to get lunch. We met up with a friend of ours – and went across the bridge again (this time by car) and reached the Dipsea Trailhead. We climbed the 700 steps and then went further to reach part of a trail which we didn’t really know where it was leading us – before snagging drinks in downtown Mill Valley.
On the last day in SF – I woke up and saw a truly jaw-dropping sunrise from the west-side of the bridge, this would be the only time I got to see a sunrise at the bridge – and it was spectacular. After that I biked around the Presidio before meeting back up with my friend and exploring a different part of the city – Chinatown. It was incredibly interesting and a large step up (both in scale and uniqueness) when compared to the only other Chinatown I’m familiar with – Boston’s.
All things considered the trip was a resounding success. I got some phenomenal work to walk away from the trip with – and spent good time with a good friend, what more can you ask for?
